Former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone won Rio Open Title

Italian woman Tennis player Francesca Schiavone on 21 February 2016 won Rio Open title defeating Shelby Rogers of America with scores of 2-6, 6-2, and 6-2 in the final held in Rio de Janeiro.

It is her seventh career title. She won her first Grand Slam title at 2010 French Open.

• She was born on 23 June 1980 in Milan, Italy.

• She became the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam event in singles.

• She is the last one handed-backhand player to win a Grand Slam title on the women's tour.

• She remained in the top 100 since 2012.

• She won the Marrakech Grand Prix, 2013 defeating Lourdes Domínguez Lino.
