Mt Gorichen peak of Arunachal Pradesh: Indian Air Force explored unclimbed Peak
Indian Air Force (IAF) mountaineering expedition team explored an unclimbed peak of Mt Gorichen (5587 meters) in Arunachal Pradesh. The team was led by Wing Commander D Panda. This was the first expedition of IAF into this region of Eastern Himalayas.
The peak lies on the west of Mt Gorichen and was christened as Mt Garud Parvat by air warriors who climbed it for the first time in history.

The team of Air Force comprised of 15 air warriors that included of both experienced and newly trained mountaineers completed the expedition in two groups on 14 May and 15 May 2014. The team comprised of 15 air warriors was flagged off by Air Marshall HB Rajaram Air Officer in-charge administration from Delhi on 24 April 2014.
