New Delhi: The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), a global indicator of public sector wrongdoing, for 2024 shows that Denmark is the least corrupt nation in the world, followed by Finland, Singapore, and New Zealand. According to the Transparency International study, India ranked 96th, three spots lower than the previous year.
On a scale of zero to 100, where "zero" denotes extreme corruption and "100" denotes extreme cleanliness, the index rates 180 nations and territories according to experts and businesspeople's assessments of public sector corruption. According to the 2024 research, corruption is a serious issue everywhere in the world, although many nations are seeing positive changes.

Declining Rankings of Powerful Nations
Leading nations like the United States and France, as well as authoritarian ones like Russia and Venezuela, all recorded their worst performances in almost ten years.
The United States fell from 24th to 28th place, dropping from 69 points to 65. France, which fell four points to 67 and five spots to 25th, and Germany, which fell three points to 75 and six spots to 15th, were two other Western countries that saw a dip. Canada, which was down three spots and one point, was tied with it.
According to Transparency International, Mexico also lost five points to 26 since the judiciary did not act in significant cases of corruption.
