Indian girl’s team finished fourth in the World junior team squash championships. They lost the bronze medal play-off 1-2 against Hong Kong in end July in Boston. Sixth-seeded Hong Kong took the advantage when Aparajitha Balamurukan lost 9-11, 9-11, 14-12, 8-11 to Choi Uen Shan in 36 minutes. Aparajitha played well in the third game but Shan outdid her in the fourth.
Asian junior champion Anaka Alankamony put in an assured performance to demolish Ka-Yi Lee 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 in 20 minutes. However, Ho Tze-Lok crushed hopes that the third-seeded Indians harboured by beating Saumya Karki 4-11, 11-5, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8 in a 46-minute thriller.
Five-time finalist and two-time defending champion Egypt retained the title by defeating host USA, thereby making its first-ever World squash team final appearance, 2-1 on 30 July 2011.
