Harishchandrachi Factory, India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category fell out of the race on 21 Jan 2010. The Marathi movie directed by veteran theatre personality Paresh Mokashi is based on Dadasaheb Phalke’s struggle in making India’s first full-length feature film Raja Harishchandra. Nandu Mahadev played the role of Dadasaheb Phalke while Vibhavari Deshpande played the role of his wife. Mohit Gokhale, Atharva Karve, Dilip Joglekar and Pravin Tarde play a strong supportive role. Shwaas was the first Marathi film to get an Oscar entry in 2004. For the Oscar awards in this category nine films from a total of 65 entries was shortlisted.
