Industrialist Deepak Khaitan died on 9 March 2015 after a prolonged spell of illness. He was 60.
He was the vice-Chairman of the Williamson Magor Group and the eldest son of BM Khaitan. He is best known for the acquisition of the Eveready brand from the Union Carbide.
BM Khaitan Group has companies like Eveready Industries, Mcleod Russel and Mcnally Bharat Engineering among others. The turnover of the group is around 6000 crores rupees.
He became the Chairman of McNally Sayaji Engineering in June 2009. He was also the non-executive Chairman of Kilburn Engineering Ltd. He was the executive Chairman at McNally Bharat Engineering Co Ltd and also served as its Chairman of the board till August 2011.
