Jalaj Shrivastva sworn in as Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council

Jalaj Shrivastva took oath of the office as the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on 5 August 2013. Jalaj Shrivastva is an Indian Administrative Officer of 1984 batch AGMU cadre.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit administered the oath of faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India to Shrivastva in a special meeting of the Council. Sheila Dikshit serves as the presiding officer of the civic body.

The AGMU Cadre of IAS/IPS, earlier known as the UT Cadre, caters to the needs of four units, the three States of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram & Goa, and Union Territories: Andaman & Nicober Islands; Chandigarh; Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli; Delhi; Lakshadweep and Puducherry.

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is the municipal corporation of the city of New Delhi and the area under its administration is referred to as the New Delhi Municipal Council area. New Delhi Municipal Council covers an area of 43.7 km square and is governed by a council with a Chairperson appointed by the Central Government and includes the Chief Minister of Delhi.
