Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on April 22, 2021, announced that the Jharkhand state government will provide the COVID-19 vaccine to people above 18 years of age for free.
“The corona vaccine will be provided free of cost to people above 18 years of age by the state government in Jharkhand.” Hemant Soren tweeted.

The move by the Jharkhand government to provide COVID vaccine for free comes a day after the Centre announced its ‘Liberalised Pricing and Accelerated National COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy’ policy under which the government allows everyone above 18 years of age to be administered with vaccines from May 2021 onwards.
One of the key features of the policy allows state governments to purchase the vaccine doses directly from manufacturers as well as allow manufacturers to supply 50 per cent of vaccine doses to states and private hospitals.
