Libyan Strongman Muammar Gaddafi’s Son Killed in NATO Strike

International/World Current Affairs 2011. NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) carried out a strike on Muammar Gaddafi’s home in Bab al-Azizya residential area in Tripoli, the capital of Libya

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) carried out a strike on Muammar Gaddafi’s home in Bab al-Azizya residential area in Tripoli, the capital of Libya, on 30 April 2011 which killed the youngest son of Mummar Gaddafi, Saif al-Arab Gaddafi. The strike also killed Gaddafi’s three grandchildren. Gaddafi and his wife were in the house at the time of attack but survived the attack.


The ongoing war between Libyan army and the rebel forces supported by allied nations have killed thousands so far and have caused the increase in oil prices op more than 30 percent. Western port city of Misrata has become the centre of the ongoing war.


Earlier, NATO had rejected a ceasefire offer from Gaddafi on 29 April 2011. It asked Gaddafi to stop any attacks on civilians before it considers any truce. Gaddafi offered a ceasefire for the second time. Gaddafi has seven sons and one daughter. Gaddafi’s daughter, Aisha is an attorney by profession and was part of the legal team that defended Saddam Hussein. Seif al-Islam Qadhafi is the most well known son of Mummar Gaddafi.
