Longtoushan Township: epicenter of the Earthquake that struck China
Longtoushan Township of Zhaotong City in southwest Yunnan Province of China on 3 August 2014 witnessed an earthquake of magnitude of 6.1 on Richter scale. Longtoushan, the
epicenter of the quake was the hardest-hit area with homes flattened and transportation was disrupted.
This quake resulted in the death of more than 400 people and injured more than 1800. This was the strongest earthquake to hit the province in 14years.

It stuck at 4:30 pm (Beijing time 08:30 GMT) and the tremor was also felt in nearby provinces like Sichuan and Guizhou.
The city of Zhaotong is on the earthquake belt and has been occasionally struck by earthquakes.
