Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently introduced the state's first double-decker electric bus in Lucknow. He unveiled the bus during the Aakanksha Haat event at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
This newly lanuched initiative aims to decrease traffic congestion and jam in cities. It will also support environmental conservation and reduce air pollution in the city.
50% Discount for Women
The Chief Minister also announced a 50% discount on tickets for women using the new double-decker electric bus service, which received applause from the audience. Additionally, he announced free travel for women on the heritage route every Saturday morning.
Lucknow Double-decker Bus Route
A transport department official shared that this double-decker bus will serve in two ways initially, a heritage tour bus in the mornings and a passenger bus in the evenings. Eventually, it will operate regularly between Kamta Crossing and the airport via Shaheed Path.
Special Features of this Bus
The bus can carry up to 65 passengers at once. Passengers paying digitally will get a 10% discount. For added safety, especially for women, the bus is equipped with five CCTV cameras and a panic button. It also features an electronic tracking device, allowing passengers to check the bus's real-time location.

The fare for the double-decker electric bus will vary based on the distance traveled. Women will receive a 50% discount on tickets, and all passengers will get an extra 10% off when paying digitally.

Aims to Reduce Pollution
After launching the new double-decker electric bus, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined children on board and asked them about the bus’s features. He shared that the Hinduja Group is setting up an electric vehicle plant in the state. The production of the vehicles is expected to begin soon.
