Indian shot putter Manpreet Kaur on 24 April 2017 clinched a gold medal in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix Athletics Meet in Jinhua, China.
Manpreet came up with a best throw of 18.86 metre, a national record. In 2015, she made a national record after throwing a shot put at the distance of 17.96 metre.
With the win, the shot putter also acquired the No 1 spot in the world rankings.
With the performance, Manpreet also qualified for the IAAF World Championships to be held in August 2017 in London, UK.
Bian Song of China finished a distant second with 17.96 metres.
