New Zealand government imposed a 12-month ban on Synthetic cannabis products which became effective on 5 August 2011.
The government said the use of 43 artificial cannabis products could cause heart problems. Among the prohibited substances is a popular brand known as Kronic, which has been a legal alternative to marijuana for many years. Kronic is smoked like marijuana and has been available in shops.
