In Japan, rice with radiation levels exceeding the country's safety limits was discovered for the first time since the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in the Tsunami in early 2011. The Japanese government is considering banning all shipments from the area where it was detected. Rice with radiation above the official safety limits was detected in a sample from a farm in Fukushima city. The rice was being prepared for market.
Radiation was detected in food in Japan in recent months in beef, mushrooms and green tea among other products. Japan is fighting to tackling the radiation, which spread across eastern Japan by wind and rain following the damage of Fukushima Nuclear complex in the Tsunami.
