A new report highlights the tax contributions of India's top celebrities for FY24, with Shah Rukh Khan emerging as the highest taxpayer. Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay follows closely behind in second place.

Shah Rukh Khan, known for his role in ‘Chennai Express’, has outpaced several Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and Thalapathy Vijay in terms of tax payments. This year, he reportedly paid Rs 92 crore in taxes.

Check the top 10 celebrities who paid the highest tax in FY24, along with the stipulated amount they paid as tax:

Virat Kohli: Highest Tax-Paying Sportsperson

With a tax contribution of Rs 66 crore, cricket player Virat Kohli came in fifth place. Other athletes who reached the list of the top ten include Sachin Tendulkar (Rs. 28 crore) and MS Dhoni (Rs. 38 crore). 

Former Cricket Captain of India, Saurav Ganguly (Rs 23 crore) and Hardik Pandya (Rs 13 crore) are some other notable names of the Sports industry who made it into the list of top 20.

Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the Top 5 Taxpayers

Salman Khan, who paid Rs 75 crore in taxes, came in third position despite having a less successful year at the box office. He continued to be on the list due to his revenues from endorsements, TV appearances, and motion picture projects. With his part in the Rs 1,000 crore blockbuster Kalki 2898AD, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan also made a significant contribution to taxes, paying Rs 71 crore.

Akshay Kumar Not on the List

Remarkably, Akshay Kumar, who was named the nation's "highest taxpayer" in 2022 and awarded the "Samman Patra" by the Income Tax Department, was not included in the list of top taxpayers for this year.
