Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs announced 50 thousand rupees cash prize for each player of the Indian Junior Women Hockey team

Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs on 7 August 2013 announced 50 thousand rupees cash prize for each player of the Indian Junior Women Hockey team, which won bronze at the recently concluded World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany. Each coach of the team will be given 25 thousand rupees.

The team created history by winning first ever bronze medal for India after beating England 3-2 in penalty shoot-out.

The winning Indian Junior women hockey team was the 18-member squad led by captain Sushila Chanu.
At present, Jitender Singh is the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.
