Star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal was defeated by world number three Xin Wang of China in the finals to finish runner-up in the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton tournament on 8 May 2011 in Kuala Lumpur. The world number four and top Indian lost 21-13 8-21 14-21 in a 48-minute contest against her second-seeded rival.
However, in losing her first major tournament final of her career, Nehwal extended her career head-to-head to 0-3 against a particularly stubborn Chinese. Saina Nehwal’s armoury which is her mental strength lent her an invisible edge over opponents and had yielded her 17 victories in the past.
