Jinnah International Airport, Karachi: Attacked by terrorists
Jinnah International Airport of Karchi was in news when Terrorist belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban on 8 June 2014 attacked it.
In the attack more than 23 people were killed and scores injured when the terrorist used grenades and stormed it into a cargo area. The airport's cargo area is about a kilometer away from the area where commercial planes take off.
All ten terrorists involved in the attack were killed. Two of them detonated suicide vests.
The attack was reminiscent of the deadly raid carried out by some 15 militants of the Tehreek – e – Taliban in May 2011 on the Mehran naval airbase in Karachi. In the attack some 18 personnel were killed before terrorists were killed in a counter—attack.
