The Chief Minister of Odisha reshuffled his Cabinet Ministry on 2 August 2012. Patnaik suspended MP Priyamohan Mohaptra. He dropped Five Ministers and introduced Three Cabinet Members and Six Ministers in his Cabinet.
The CM of the state dropped five Ministers namely; Ghadai, Prafulla Samal, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pushpendra Singhdeo and Pratap Jena.
The Six new Ministers appointed by the Chief Minister of the State are:- Pratap Keshari Deb, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikant Singh, Sarojini Hembram, Arun Kumar Sahu and Rabi Narayan Nanda.
Damodar Rout and Routray were appointed as the new Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Forest and Environment department respectively.
Debi Prasad Mishra was appointed as the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development. She was the former Minister of Forest and Environment department.
In addition, Rajanikant Singh was appointed as the Minister of Steel and Mines department. Usha Devi became the minister for Women and Child Development department. Arun Kumar Sahu had given charge for the Energy department.
Patnaik has 21 member ministry with only two women ministers Usha Devi and Sarojini Hembram, three tribal members (L.B. Himirika, Ramesh Majhi and Sarojini Hembram) and Subrat Tarai is a single member from scheduled caste community.
According to the Constitution of India, Odisha can have maximum number of 22 ministers in their state.
