The Monetary Allowance to Gallantry Awardees Doubled

Union government of India on 11 June 2013 doubled the special monetary allowance given to gallantry award recipients.

The Union government of India on 11 June 2013 doubled the special monetary allowance given to gallantry award recipients of police and paramilitary forces. The monetary allowances attached with the President's Police Medal for gallantry, has been enhanced from 1500 to 3000 rupees and for the Police Medal for gallantry, from 900 to 2000 rupees per month.

This would be effective from 10 May 2013. The Government also decided to grant monetary allowance at enhance rate of 500 rupees per month to the Sena / Nao Sena / Vayu Sena Award Medal awardees, where the awards have been given for Gallantry. This will be payable to those who have been given these awards on 26 January 1999 or thereafter.
