India’s GISAT-1 satellite fails to reach orbit
The Geo-Imaging Satellite (GISAT-1) was launched by ISRO on the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle- F 10 (GSLV-F10). However, the satellite failed to reach orbit because of a technical setback. As per Union Minister Jitendra Singh, the satellite mission can be re-scheduled.
Russia’s RDIF proposes joint trial of Pfizer and Sputnik Light Vaccine
The Russian Direct Investment Fund has proposed to Pfizer to start the joint combination trials with Russia’s Sputnik Light for a booster COVID-19 vaccine shot. RDIF also informed that Sputnik V was the first vaccine in the world that offered a combo trial to AstraZeneca in November 2020.
New method to identify proteins developed
Scientists have come up with a new approach to identify the proteins inside the different neurons in the brain of a living animal. Proteins, like neurons, hold the key to the better understanding of complex brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s that can lead to the development of new treatments.
Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra ranks No. 2 in World Athletics Rankings
An Indian Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been ranked No. 2 in the latest World Athletics Rankings after his performance in the Tokyo Olympics. Chopra created history in Olympics by becoming the first Indian to win a gold in track and field. He had thrown javelin to a distance of 87.58 km.
About India’s Deep Ocean Mission
The Cabinet Committee chaired by Prime Minister Modi has given its approval to the proposal on Deep Ocean Mission. It aims at exploring the deep ocean resources as well as develop deep-sea technologies for the sustainable use of the ocean resources. It will be implemented for five years from 2021 to 2026.
