Union Cabinet recently approved the introduction of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the parliament.
The Union Cabinet approved the introduction of Aircraft (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Parliament to amend the Aircraft Act, 1934. The Bill proposes a penalty of a fine of up to Rs 1 crore in case of negligence in aircraft operation. Earlier, the penalty of maximum Rs. 10 lakh was imposed for such negligence. The Bills imposes a penalty on the person carrying arms, ammunition or dangerous goods that endanger the safety of the aircraft in any way.
The Andhra Pradesh Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, also known as the Disha Act, was passed by the Andhra Pradesh cabinet recently for its enactment. The Act proposes harsh punishment for those who commit a crime against women. The legislation aims to protect women and children in Andhra Pradesh. One of the sections of the act calls for speedy trial of a case involving a heinous crime against women such as rape.
The Rajya Sabha on December 11, 2019, passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019. 125 MPs voted in favour of the Bill, while 105 MPs voted against the legislation. Once the Bill receives the signature of President Ram Nath Kovind, it would become an Act.
