1. (a) China

A team of archaeologists revealed on October 28, 2018 that they have unearthed Bronze Age ruins including the remains of ancient houses and ash pits along with animal bones, bronze ware and stone tools in China's Jilin province.

2. (b) Bangladesh

The Bangladesh government and the World Bank on October 28, 2018 signed an agreement to improve the transparency and efficiency of its major cash transfer programmes. The cash transfer modernisation project will help the Department of Social Services modernise the country's four major social protection programmes using cash transfers by improving beneficiary targeting, programme administration and benefit payments.

3. (a) Jawaharlal Nehru University

People residing close to the JNU campus here might soon get the opportunity to be on air with the university all set to launch a community radio station as part of its "social responsibility". The community radio will cater to residents of areas such as Ber Sarai, Munirka, Kishangarh, Hauz Khas Village, Vasant Vihar cluster areas and Mahipalpur.

India and Pakistan’s men’s hockey teams were on October 29, 2018 declared joint winners of the Asian Champions Trophy, which was held in Muscat, Oman.The tournament director declared both teams as winners after the summit clash was called off due to heavy rain. Defending champions India, thus, ended the tournament unbeaten.

5. (d) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The Vigilance Awareness Week will be observed across the country from October 29, 2018 to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption-free society.  The theme of the week this year is, 'Eradicate Corruption - Build a New India'. The week, in which 31st October, the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls, is observed as Vigilance Awareness Week every year.

6. (b) Britain

Britain's Information Commissioner has slapped Facebook with a fine worth 500,000 pounds for its behaviour in the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The ICO's investigation found that between 2007 and 2014, Facebook processed the personal information of users unfairly by giving app developers access to their information without informed consent.The fine was the maximum allowed under the law at the time the breach occurred.

7. (d) Ireland

Michael D Higgins has been re-elected as the President of Ireland after receiving 56 per cent of the country's votes in the elections. Businessman Peter Casey came second with 23.1 per cent votes, while none of the other four candidates polled more than 10 per cent.

8. (a) Jair Bolsonaro

Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro has won a sweeping victory in Brazil's presidential election. Bolsonaro won 55.2 per cent of the votes cast against 44.8 per cent for Fernando Haddad from the left-wing Workers' Party. Bolsonaro campaigned on a promise to eradicate corruption and to drive down Brazil's high crime levels.

9. (c) Arunachal Pradesh

The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Council to strengthen educational and cultural cooperation, in order to support the knowledge ambitions and economic growth of the state.

10. (b) January 2019

The Supreme Court of India has adjourned the hearing on pleas challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid site title dispute to January 2019. The apex court will in January fix the date for commencing hearing on the matter.
