1. (a) Chocolate Brown
The new denomination of Rs 10 banknote has motif of Sun Temple, Konark on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Chocolate Brown. The dimension of the banknote will be 63 mm x 123 mm.

Bengaluru will host the first edition of Karnataka International Travel Expo’ (KITE) at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC) in February 2018. The expo is being touted as the largest B2B travel event in India, which is providing a platform for over 400 registered buyers and media representatives from over 25 countries.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has welcomed six new non-permanent members — Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Peru, and Poland. The United States of America has suspended over 1 billion US dollar security assistance to Pakistan, accusing the nation of harbouring terror groups like the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani Network within its border and showing the unwillingness to take ‘decisive actions’ against them.

The state government of Maharashtra has decided to form an international education board to prepare the syllabus for the non-English medium schools. In the first phase, 100 selected Marathi schools will function according to the new syllabus. Senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Vasant Davkhare passed away on 4 January 2018 in Mumbai, after suffering from a prolonged illness. He was 67. Davkhare was first elected as the corporator in the Thane Municipal Corporation in 1986. In 1987 he was elected as the Mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation. He became the Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council in 1998. In July 2010, he was re-elected unopposed to the post.
10. (c) Ricky Ponting
Australian batting great Ricky Ponting was on 4 January 2018 appointed as the coach of the Delhi Daredevils franchise for the upcoming Indian Premier League. Ponting takes over the reins of Delhi Daredevils from former India captain Rahul Dravid, who had stepped down after the previous season owing to BCCI's conflict-of-interest regulations.
11. (b) Arunachal Pradesh
Following the Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) implementation, the state government of Arunachal Pradesh has taken all possible preventive measures to prevent a possible spill over of illegal migrants to the state. Strict vigil has been ordered along the state’s border outposts to check entrance of illegal immigrants.

Three Ministries of the Union Government, the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Department of Science & Technology on 4 January 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi for joint funding of Technology Mission for Indian Railways.
