TripAdvisor presents Bali with 2017 Travelers' Choice Awards

US-based travel reviewer website TripAdvisor on 20 April 2017 presented its 2017 World's Best Destination Award to Indonesia's resort island of Bali.

TripAdvisor's 2017 World's Best Destination Award for Bali was announced in March 2017, resulting from its traveller choice programme conducted in a 12-month period.

With this, Bali became the first Asian destination to earn the title.

In addition, TripAdvisor also put Lombok, a destination near Bali, as one of the best 10 Asian destinations for the year.

The 2017 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide. The website gathers the information for over a 12-month period. As per the TripAdvisor, Bali improved in three main categories from 2015 to 2016. They are accommodation, tour attractions and restaurants.
