Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and top table tennis player Sharath Kamal will be India's flag-bearers during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Olympic medallist Gagan Narang replaced boxing legend Mary Kom as the chef-de-mission of India's Paris 2024 Olympic contingent.

2. Russia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recently awarded Russia's highest civilian honour, the 'Order of St Andrew the Apostle'. Prime Minister Modi was also awarded Bhutan's highest civilian honour, the 'Order of the Druk Gyalpo' a few months ago.

Senior IAS officer Pankaj Agarwal has been appointed the new Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana in place of Anurag Agarwal. The Haryana government has recently issued appointment orders of 12 IAS officers as part of the reshuffle.

Jasprit Bumrah, who performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2024, has been awarded the ICC Player of the Month award for the month of June. Meanwhile, the women's team's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been honoured with the Women's ICC Player of the Month award.

Tata Power Solar Systems Limited has launched 'Ghar Ghar Solar' initiative in Uttar Pradesh. It aims to provide clean energy to every home through solar solutions. This mission has been started from PM Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

6. (d) Gautam Gambhir

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah shared this news on social media. Earlier, legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid was the coach of the Indian team.   

7. (a) Maharashtra

The 15th Agriculture Leadership Awards Committee has recently awarded the Best Agriculture State Award for the year 2024 to the state of Maharashtra. The announcement was made by the 15th Agriculture Leadership Awards Committee, headed by Justice P Sathasivam, former Chief Justice of India and Governor of Kerala.  

8. (a) Dr. Soumya Swaminathan

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has been appointed as Principal Advisor in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme. Dr. Soumya is the former chief scientist of the World Health Organisation and has also previously served as the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

9. Bangladesh

Regional security group Colombo Security Conclave has recently officially included Bangladesh as the fifth member country of the group. Earlier this group included India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Maldives. The Colombo Security Conclave was established in the year 2020.   

10. (b) Shankar Narayan

Lieutenant General Shankar Narayan has recently taken over as the Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R) – the apex hospital of the Armed Forces Medical Services. He is an alumnus of 1982 ('U') batch. Lieutenant General Shankar did post-doctoral sub-specialization in Neonatology from New Delhi and trained in Pediatric Liver Transplantation at King's College Hospital, London.
