Barack Obama won election for second term as US President

Barack Obama has been re-elected as the United States President to the second term eating Republican challenger Mitt Romney

 

Barack Obama has been re-elected as the President to the second term in the White House beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney after a long and bitter campaign. Barack Obama prevailed despite lingering dissatisfaction with the economy and a well-funded challenge by Mr Romney. Obama created history again by defying undertow of a slow economic recovery to beat Romney. 


Romney visited at last minute to Ohio and Pennsylvania on Tuesday to drive up turnout in different states, while Vice President Joe Biden was dispatched to Ohio., Obama stayed in hometown of Chicago. Barack Obama became only the second Democrat to win a second four-year White House term since World War II.


"This happened because of you. Thank you," Obama tweeted to his 22 million followers on Twitter. President Obama has a long-term economic plan to invest in education, small businesses, clean energy, infrastructure, and tax cuts for companies that bring jobs back to the U.S.Is lifting the shadow of deportation from young, hardworking immigrants who were brought here as children, and is committed to comprehensive immigration reform.


The battle was close by all standards but Obama maintained a lead by winning important swing states Michigan and Pennsylvania. Obama has also won Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Illinois, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Washington DC.
