In 2016, the position of ICC President was abolished, and the Chairman's role was redefined as an honorary position.
According to ICC rules for the chairmanship election, the process involves 16 votes, and a simple majority of nine votes (51%) is required to win.
This marks a change from the previous rule, where the winner needed a two-thirds majority.
Jay Shah, who currently leads the ICC's influential Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) subcommittee, is a significant figure in cricket administration and has strong support among most of the 16 voting members.
