The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has brought forward the shining names of winners of the National Startup Awards of 2023.
A total of 84 finalists for the competition had been listed by the Startup India. Out of the list, the government awarded a total of 20 startups across the 15 categories. Some of the categories include the "Pivot Pro Award", the "NextGen Innovator", the "Women led innovation" and more. The list of startups belong from a wide array of sectors such as fintech, climatetech, agritech, and more.
The award to the winning startups was given by Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry. An additional detail was shared at the event, where the minister announced the "Startup Maha Kumbh", scheduled for March 2024.

The minister guaranteed continued government support for the startup ecosystem of India. The minister also urged the entrepreneurs to work collaboratively in order to transit to a developed startup system.
The minister expressed that the startups in India are actually playing an important role in the vision of the country to become a developed nation by the year 2047. The minister acknowledged the growth of the startup ecosystem in the past eight years. Moreover, at the event, the minister further said that startups are now an integral aspect of the national mainstream.
Minister Piyush Goyal talked about the vast contribution of startups in various sectors of the economy, like the spacetech, fintech, and healthtech. However, while these sectors have shown immense growth, there are some sectors that are still unexplored. With this respect, the minister pointed to the sustainable toursim sector.
It is also important to note that the number of winning startups has declined by 50 percent this year. The government awarded a total of 42 startups in the previous edition.
