US-China $30 Billion Trade Deal Explained: Check Full List of Goods which have Received Tariff Relief

The United States and China have agreed on reciprocal tariff reductions covering about $30 billion of goods from each country, marking an elevation of trade ties after tariff disputes. The plan emerged from President Donald Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and covers non-sensitive products.

What does the US-China deal cover?

The tariff plan includes about $60 billion in combined bilateral trade. The US list contains 77 Chinese product categories, while China’s list covers 1,619 US goods. Individual tariff reductions have not yet been specified.

China said about 90% of the products covered by the arrangement would see tariffs reduced to most-favoured-nation rates. The reductions are slated to be enforced simultaneously after both countries complete their required domestic legal process.

List of US goods covered by China

China’s list includes several US agricultural, energy and manufactured products. Products and sectors include coal, beef, lamb, chicken, seafood such as tuna, cod, crabs and lobster, dairy products, honey, fruits, vegetables, wheat, barley, corn, rice and sorghum.

The list also includes edible oils, cocoa beans, coffee, tea, pet food, tobacco, cosmetics and timber. Medical and healthcare-related products, including ultrasonic machines, magnetic resonance imaging devices and dental equipment, are also covered.

Chinese goods covered by the US

The US list largely spans household and consumer products. It includes fireworks, tableware, kitchenware, blankets, household appliances, microwaves, coffee and tea makers, toasters, electric irons and flashlights.

Children’s products such as highchairs, booster seats, infant walkers, bouncers, swings and safety seats are under the ambit too. The list covers toys, games, playing cards, sports equipment, fishing equipment, Christmas decorations, artificial flowers, brushes and vacuum flasks.

Why is the US-China deal important?

The deal aims to reduce trade barriers in areas regarded as less sensitive while the two countries continue negotiations on larger disputes. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the selected products could improve access for American agricultural products and medical devices, while lifting off barriers on Chinese household goods and toys.

The tariff package represents only a part of US-China goods trade, which was reportedly about $415 billion last year. Disputes over export controls and Taiwan remain unresolved, so the plan does not ease wider strategic and economic conflicts.

What happens after the tariff plan?

The tariff cuts will necessitate enforcing domestic processes in both countries before implementation. China and the US have agreed to continue discussions through new trade mechanisms. China said the steps would help normalise bilateral economic and trade relations and create better conditions for exports.

The deal therefore represents targeted tariff relief rather than a comprehensive trade settlement.
