Also, CBSE Class 10 Compartment Examination is usually conducted over a period of 7 - 10 days and the results for the same are declared within two weeks. Keeping the same in mind, the tentative schedule has been prepared. Actual schedule for the various processes depends largely on the actual release date of CBSE Class 10 Second Board Results.

CBSE Class 11 Admissions 2026

Under the new two board policy, CBSE has clarified that the actual admissions for class 11 will only commence after the result for both the board examinations is released. The final result along with official documents (marksheet and passing certificates) will be issued by the board in the month of July. Schools will then be required to open the admissions and offer the seats to the students based on their final scores (and not only on the first board exam results which were declared in April).

While many schools have already completed the Class 11 admissions and started the academic year, they are still mandated to honour the final result and do it as per the policy.

One of the key differentiators becomes Mathematics score, which is considered by many schools while offering the subject to students in Class 11. CBSE has allowed students with Basic to appear for Standard Mathematics in 2nd Board and vice versa. Based on the final score of the student, Class 11 admissions can then be moderated.

What is important to remember is that the delayed result will create a ripple effect when it comes to the entire academic planning for the schools. It is also the key driver for CBSE class 11 registration process, which usually begins in the last week of August or September of an academic year.

Why Registration Process is important

Much like in Class 9, CBSE follows a registration process for Class 11 students as well. During this process, the details of the students enrolled in a school are submitted to the board for next year’s tentative LOC (list of candidates). In other words, students who will be appearing for 2028 Class 12 board examinations, have to first register in 2026 as Class 11 students.

This list is comprehensive and lists out the subjects chosen by the student, which becomes imperative for academic and examination planning by the board. Given that the registration process usually takes about three to four weeks, it is likely that the schedule provided would be followed (or a slight variation thereof).

Key Admission Rules to Keep in Mind for CBSE Class 11 Students (2026-27 batch)

  1. Students have to choose a minimum of 5 subjects - these can be any as long as one of them is either English or Hindi (Language)
  2. Students can Choose any combination of subjects from Language, Elective or Skill Subjects provided by the Board (Check Complete List on cbseacademic.nic.in)
  3. Students can choose an additional subject for Class 11 and 12, which can again be from any of the subjects
  4. There are a few exceptions between electives and skill subject - for instance, students selecting Accountancy as an Elective cannot select Book-keeping as a skill subject, etc. Also, students can choose between either a core language or an elective language and not both. In case a student ops for two languages (out of total 5 or 6), then one has to be core and the other has to be elective.
  5. Out of the 5 minimum subjects, one subject must be language and one must be from Group A. Rest can be a combination of Language, skill and group A subject in any matter of permutation and combination.

All students and parents are advised to keep a check on the official website for the notifications regarding the same. Information on result date, as and when received, will also be provided on Jagran Josh. We wish all the students the very best for the same.
