Chandigarh School Reopening News: As per latest media reports, Schools in the Union Territory of Chandigarh are all set to reopen from 21st Sept 2020 for students of Class 9 and above. According to reports, parents of over 50% of students have expressed their consent to allow students for voluntary visits to the schools for guidance. According to tentative estimates, around 25,000 students studying at over 90 schools in the Union Territory of Chandigarh have submitted their consent forms to visit their schools starting from 21st Sept for doubt solving sessions with their teachers.
Review Meeting Held on Thursday
In line with the plan to reopen schools starting 21st Sept, the UT education department and principals and heads of government schools of UT Chandigarh held a review meeting to assess the prevailing situation of COVID-19. The meeting was attended by Deputy District Education Officer Ravinder Kaur, Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Manjit Kaur, and the Principals and Heads of all Government schools of UT, Chandigarh. During the meeting, school administrators were briefed about preventive measures to be undertaken before, during and after partial reopening of schools from next week.
Precautions to be Taken for School Reopening
During the meeting, Officials from UT education department told school principals to not allow students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff members residing in micro containment zones to visit schools. In addition to this, school administrators were briefed on preparing a detailed plan for entry and exit of students while not allowing any overcrowding at gates. Strict adherence to social distancing guidelines was also prescribed. Apart from this, students and staff members will also have to adhere to other guidelines and SOPS prescribed by the Union Health Ministry. These include
- Compulsory wearing of face masks / face covers
- Proper Hand Hygiene through Frequent hand washing and sanitization
- Following respiratory etiquettes
- Provision of safe and clean drinking water
- Sanitization of school premises including all common areas
