Official Notification Issued by DoE, Delhi

To confirm the development, the DoE, Delhi has issued an official notification or order to all schools and educational institutions which confirms closure of educational institutions till 5th October. The order reads “"All government and private schools will remain closed for all students till October 5. However, online teaching and learning activities will continue as usual."

Staff Members Allowed to Visit Schools

While the DoE order has asked schools to be closed and regular classes to remain suspended until 5th October 2020; the order makes a relaxation for school teachers and staff members. According to the notification, "School principals are authorised to call the staff as per requirement for smooth conduct of online classes or any other work.” This means that teaching and non-teaching staff members can be called into schools to prepare materials for online classes and virtual classes that are being held for students to ensure academic continuity.

Online Classes to be held by Schools

Earlier, the Directorate of Education, Delhi was co-ordinating availability of online study materials and was also facilitating holding of online classes for all students since closure of schools in March 2020. However, recently, Delhi government also urged state-run schools to take over online classes, which are currently being conducted by the Directorate of education. The recent notification issued by DoE also talks about this matter saying ““In order to further strengthen and expand the Teaching-Learning Activities for classes 9 to 12, online classes are being decentralized for these classes of all the government and government-aided schools.” School Administrators have been asked to design suitable Time Table with the schedule of Online Classes and share it with the concerned teachers and students to ensure classes are held online without any delay.
