DU Admission 2021: As per the latest update, this year too, the University of Delhi will conduct admission procedures in online mode only. To avoid long queues on campus, the University will conduct the admission process digitally. Apart from that, as per the media reports, the registrations for undergraduate courses will commence by July end whereas for postgraduate and PhD courses the registration will start within 10-days.
Earlier, Rajeev Gupta, Chairperson of DU’s admissions, told the media, “The registration process for the undergraduate admissions is likely to begin from the third or fourth week of July. It will not begin on July 15 as the results will not be out by then. The Supreme Court has given a deadline of July 31 for the results to be declared so the process will also begin a few days before the results are announced.”
Merit-Based Admission
The University will continue to conduct merit-based admissions this year too. The authorities were earlier considering to hold Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CU-CET) as one of the many entrance gateways, however, there is no final decision on this yet. Under these circumstances, merit-based admissions will continue.
Delhi University Registration Statistics
This year too, the university is expecting to have high number of registrations. Considering the travel bans and COVID-19 restrictions across the world, foreign admissions will be lesser and thus, more students are expected to apply for Indian Universities. Last year too, following a similar situation, the number of registrations at DU went up by about one lakh.
In 2020, a total of 3,53,717 students applied for undergraduate courses at Delhi University. In 2019, the number was 2.58 lakh. Due to the high number of candidates and limited seats, the highest cut-off went up to 100 per cent for DU. This year, too the number is expected to remain high.
