GATE 2024 Exam Begin: The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is set to begin the GATE 2024 exam today, February 3, 2024. The exam will be held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024 in two shifts. Students are advised to check the shift timing and exam instructions provided on the GATE 2024 admit card before reporting to the exam centre for the exams. 

The GATE 2024 exam is held across various exam centres for admissions to postgraduate programmes in participating universities. Those clearing the exam will be eligible to apply for the counselling process. Candidates appearing for the GATE 2024 exam must make sure to carry their GATE admit card and a valid ID proof with them. 

GATE 2024 Exam Date and Time

As mentioned the GATE 2024 exam date is February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024. According to the schedule released, the GATE exam will be held in two shifts. Shift 1 of the exam will be conducted from 9:40 am to 12:30 pm and the second shift will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Eligible candidates can check the GATE 2024 branchwise schedule here.

GATE 2024 Exam Dress Code, Things to Carry

The GATE Exam will be held online. Students appearing for the exam are required to carry their admit card abd valid id proof. Students are also advised to follow the exam day dress code to avoid any hassle.

GATE 2024 Dress Code

The exam conducting body has issued the dress code to be followed by students appearing for the GATE 2024 exams. The dress code details for GATE 2024 are given below.

  • Students are advised to wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothing.
  • Clothes with metallic buttons or other metal embellishments are strictly prohibited. 
  • Covering with hats, scarves, or any type of fabric is strictly prohibited 
  • Jewellery of any kind is not permitted
  • Candidates are not allowed to wear watches and smartwatches and devices like mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and headphones are strictly prohibited. 
  • Students ae to avoid wearing shoes but instead opt for comfortable footwear like flip-flops or sandals.

GATE 2024 Exam Day Guidelines

The following are to exam day guidelines to be followed by students appearing for the GATE 2024 exam

  • Candidates are required to carry their GATE admit card 2024 and valid photo ID proof with them on the exam day
  • Candidates have to report to the exam hall at least an hour before the exam begins. 
  • Students will not be allowed to log in 30 minutes after the exam starts.
  • Candidates can log in to read the instructions 20 minutes before the exam commence.
  • Candidates are advised to carry their exam stationery, transparent water bottle, mask, and other necessary requirements
