Haryana Launches Students Helpline Number to Help them in Coping with stress

Haryana Education Department has launched a helpline number to help students to cope up with stress.

On Thursday, the Higher Education Department, Haryana launched a helpline number to help students deal with stress. As per the official statement released, the 24x7 helpline number is a meant for students who are undergoing stress and experiencing mental health issues owing to the nationwide lockdown implemented to contain the spread of COVID-19. The notice from the Haryana Higher Education Department added that presently 3.5 lakh students are pursuing higher education in the state and can opt for the counseling via the helpline. A team of 180 teachers of Psychology will be counselling the students on the helpline.

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal launched the helpline from his residence Jagadhri through video conferencing. In his statement, he said that the service was initiated as certain students could be seeking guidance to ease out their stress in these testing times. The Minister also said that a majority of the students pursuing higher education in the state belong to lower middle class and economically not so sound families and the helpline is meant for such students.

Launching the helpline from his residence in , said the service was started as some of the students may be looking for guidance to ease out their stress level, according to the statement. The minister said most of the students pursuing higher education in the state belong to lower-middle class and economically weak families. The Minister said that the students helpline is meant to act as 24x7 guidance for such students who are likely to be facing mental anxiety and stress from the aftermath of lockdown which led to the discontinuation of their studies.

Recently, the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that students from Classes 1 to 8 in the state will be promoted to the higher class without annual examination whereas the students of Class 9 will be assessed on the basis of their school assignments sutted earlier. The Chief Minister also ordered the private schools in the state to collect fees from the students only after the lockdown period is over.
