The Rajya Shiksha Kendra from the Madhya Pradesh Education Department has issued an order to the general promotion of the students from classes 1 to 8. The order has been issued as the examinations were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown imposed across the country.
No detention policy for final results
Commissioner RSK, Lokesh Jatav has provided the instructions to all the collectors of the districts for taking the necessary actions in this regard. He also stated that all the non-government and aided schools in the state where annual examinations have been conducted for the classes from 1 to 8 before March 19, 2020, will declare the annual exam results as per the rules, however, none of the students will be detained in the same class. On the other hand, the schools which have had to cancel the annual examination because of the lockdown will have to promote the students to the next class based on their half-yearly, monthly, or the internal assessment according to the provisions of the Right to Education Act.
The certificates of the elementary education will also be issued to the students of class eight. According to the instructions, during the entire session, the teachers have been instructed to mark a ‘dash’ in the annual exam column of the report card and the students from class 5 to 8 will be promoted on the base of the performance of the students in the monthly, half-yearly and internal assessment.
The report cards and the transfer certificates of the students will also have the principals seal and signature with the remark ‘Promotion due to Corona lockdown for infection prevention’ on the document.
Many of the state governments have taken the decision to prompt the students from classes 1 to 9 and class 11 while some of the state governments have decided to conduct examinations for the class 11 examinations post the lockdown.
