Meghalaya School Reopening News: Going by the latest update coming in at this moment, the Meghalaya Govt has allowed partial reopening of schools from 21st Sept onwards, in line with Home Ministry’s Unlock 4.0 Guidelines. However, the state government has allowed opening of schools only for scattered doubt solving sessions and no regular classes will be held at schools in the state until further orders.
News Confirmed by Education Minister
The news about reopening of schools in the state has been confirmed by State Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Friday. In a statement issued to media persons, Mr Rymbui noted that "Schools will be partially opened up from September 21 for students to come and meet their teachers and clarify doubts on subjects they find it difficult. There will be no regular classes and no classroom sessions.” He also added that the state government had earlier rationalized the school curriculum for all the classes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures. After the reopening of schools, the revised and rationalized syllabus would be followed for all classes to reduce burden on students and teachers.
COVID-19 Guidelines for School Opening
Talking about the guidelines and precautionary measures that will be followed as part of the school reopening process in Meghalaya Education Department Principal Secretary DP Wahlang informed that, all school premises including classrooms and common areas will be sanitized. Apart from this, the Education Department has ordered strict adherence to various precautions and health protocols including as maintaining physical distance, wearing masks, washing hands with soap and alcohol-based hand sanitisers and sanitising all teaching materials.
Mr Wahlang also added that students who intend to attend the teacher-student counselling would have to get the written consent of their parents or guardians to visit the schools and educational institutions. Schools should have flexibility in school timings, students visit and uniform code and ensure short duration visit of students.
