NEET PG Counselling 2021

NEET PG Counselling 2021: Coming to aid of medical aspirants who have appeared for NEET PG Exam 2021, the IMA has made an important announcement recently. Indian Medical Association – IMA in its latest notice has reached out to Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya requesting him to to permit participation of all NEET PG candidates in the final Mop-up Counselling and Stay Vaccancy Rounds of the Counselling process. IMA has called upon Health Ministry to ease the cut-off restrictions for the Mop-Up and Stray Vaccancy Rounds, and there by allowing call candidates who have passed their graduation exams and thereby fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria.

Relaxation Sought to Ensure 100% Seats are Allotted

In a letter written to the Union Health Ministry, IMA says that under the current circumstances it is important for the country to ensure that all PG medical seats are allotted and filled. The letter says that “the country is passing through a grave medical emergency and cannot afford any vacancies in any medical field.” To avoid any seats going vacant, especially during the final stages of counselling process, IMA has urged Health Ministry to ease the cut-off restrictions and instead all any candidate who has appeared for the NEET PG Exam 2022 to participate in Mop-up and Stray Vacancy Rounds.

India needs Trained, Qualified Doctors, says IMA letter

IMA in its letter says that, data also suggests that many post-graduate seats go vacant every year because not enough candidates have secured marks above the cut-off criteria. Due to this limitation, Seats remain vacant even in prestigious government colleges in the para-clinical and basic subjects. To avoid this, the cut-off criteria should be relaxed for NEET PG Mop-Up Round and NEET PG Stray Vacancy Round. The association further states that "India needs a lot of specialist doctors and one must understand that no seat should remain vacant when aspiring candidates are waiting to take admission but could not due to eligibility bar.”
