Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking at the 18th Convocation Ceremony of Tezpur University, Assam via video conferencing has appealed to the youth of the country to work for ‘New India’ through the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Campaign. While speaking to the students the Prime Minister stated that the nation is entering its 75th year of Independence and a number of people in Assam have contributed towards the freedom of the nation.
The Prime Minister also stated that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign has become a part of the vocabulary and the way the government is involved in the development of North East today and the way the country is working on connectivity, education, and health with new possibilities for the students. He also added that the students need to take full advantage of these possibilities.
Innovations helpful
The Prime Minister also added that the innovations at the grassroots level are helping in solving the local problems and opening new doors towards development. He pointed out that the effects of converting waste into energy sources are huge and the remains of crops have been a challenge for the farmers and the environment. He commended the students on the work done on technology related to biogas and organic fertilizers that can solve a major problem in India.
He also complemented Tezpur University stating that the university is running a campaign to conserve the biodiversity and rich heritage in the North East.
The university conducted the convocation ceremony in the online mode for the students who passed out in 2020. The degree and diplomas were awarded to the students in the virtual mode keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic and the guidelines issued by the state and central government.
