According to media reports, all the schools in Puducherry including private schools will be reopening from today - January 4, 2021, onwards. The schools in the Union Territory have remained closed since March 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement released by the Directorate of School Education the schools will reopen from today as half a day session from 10 AM to 1 PM in Puducherry and Karaikal.
The union territory will be commencing the classes for the students from class 1 to 12 by following the necessary COVID-19 guidelines and the safety regulations for the reopening. According to media reports, the full day working for the schools will be restored from January 18, 2021.
The schools will however be conducting the classes for the students to clear doubts and provide clarification for the students from classes 10, 11, and 12 who will be appearing for the board examinations in March or April 2021.
The schools in the union territory are conducting classes for the students in online mode and other methods and the management of the schools will be sanitizing the premises ahead of reopening the schools for the students.
Schools across the country were asked by the central government to reopen the classes for the students from September 2020 after considering the situation in the respective states. While some of the states began the classes for the students the other states had postponed the dates for beginning the classes for the students considering the COVID-19 situation.
