Punjab School Reopening News: According to the update coming from Punjab, the state government has decided to allow reopening of higher education institutions from September 21 for PhD scholars and postgraduate students pursuing technical and professional courses requiring experimental work. However, Punjab Govt has still put a blanket ban on reopening of schools, colleges and coaching centres across the state, despite Unlock 4.0 Guidelines allowing for the same. The decision was announced by the state government on Saturday after a review meeting was held in the state capital.
50% Staff Allowed to Visit Schools
While school students, irrespective of their class, have been barred from visiting school for either regular classes or doubt solving session for Sept 2020; the state government has made relaxations for school teachers. According to the state government, 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff members have been allowed to visit school from Monday onwards. The staff members being called to school by the school administrators can be involved in online teaching, tele counselling and related work in areas outside the containment zones, only as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued on September 8 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Open Air Theatres Allowed to Open
According to detailed guidelines issued by Special Chief Secretary (Home) Satish Chandra, open-air theatres will be allowed to function with strict adherence to social distancing norms. Places such as cinema halls, swimming pools entertainment parks, and theatres will remain closed. As per the state government orders, the colleges, schools, and coaching institutes will remain closed for the safety of the students but online classes will be conducted till normal classes can resume in the state.
