UGC has selected 6 colleges or institutes of higher education from Bengaluru to be mentored for NAAC accreditation soon. As per the update, University Grants Commission has selected 6 colleges based in Bengaluru, who are yet to be accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council), which it will be mentoring under the ‘Paramarsh' programme. The Commission had launched Praamarsh scheme in July 2019 under which it mentors institutes who are aspiring to get NAAC accredited. The scheme helps higher education institutions to promote quality education at higher education level.
Which Colleges are Selected by UGC?
According to the official update, UGC has selected 6 higher education institutes and colleges based in Bengaluru to be mentored under Paramarsh programme. The selected institutions include:
· B M Sreenivasaiah College for Women, Bugle Rock Road, Basavanagudi
· Government Science College, Nrupatunga Road
· Mount Carmel College
· St Joseph’s College of Commerce
· Indian Academy Degree College
· St Joseph’s College on Lalbagh Road.
Total 167 higher education institutes shortlisted
As per the official update, UGC has shortlisted a total of 167 higher education institutes and colleges to be mentored for NAAC accreditation under the Paramarsh Scheme 2019. The selected institutes will be mentored for the period of next two years and are likely to be accredited by NAAC by 2022. The Paramarsh scheme launched by UGC is aimed at developing a two-way communication and symbiotic relationship between mentor-mentee which will benefit institutions develop learning processes through which it will be able to provide quality higher education.
