When alpha particles are bombarded on thin gold foil. The observations were that most of the alpha particles passed strait. Few are deflected by acute angle and few ate deflected by obtuse angle. However rarely an alpha particle is deflected back. It was concluded that most of the space of an atom is empty. The central reason of an atom is positively charged which is known as Nucleus. Rarely an alpha particle deflected back. It shows that the size of the nucleus very small and also the density of the nucleus is very high. The estimated size of the nucleus is one Fermi.
