The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2012-13 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani.

  • B.E. (Hons.)
  • B. Pharm. (Hons.)
  • M. Sc. (Hons.)
  • M.Sc. (Tech.)

Important Dates

  • Last Date to apply for BITSAT-2012: 15 February 2012
  • Test center allotment and announcement to candidates: 25 February 2012
  • Candidates to reserve Test dates: 29 February 2012 to 20 March 2012
  • Date for downloading Hall tickets with instructions: 14 April 2012 to 30 April 2012
  • Date for BITSAT Online tests: 10 May 2012 to 9 June 2012
  • Dates for applying for admission (with 12th marks and preferences to Degree programmes: 19 May 2012 to 30 June 2012
  • Date for announcement of Admit List and Wait List: 1 July 2012

Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT

The candidate should have passed class 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Further, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th class examination, at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and adequate proficiency in English. However, admissions will be made only on his/her merit position based on the score obtained in BITSAT 2012. Only Students who are appearing for 12th class examination in 2012 or who have passed the 12th class examination in 2011 are eligible to appear for BITSAT 2012.

Test Format: BITSAT 2012 will be of total 3 hour duration (without break). The test consists of four parts with a total of 150 questions:

  • Part I: Physics (40 marks)
  • Part II: Chemistry (40 marks)
  • Part III: (a) English Proficiency (15 marks) and (b) Logical Reasoning (10 marks)
  • Part IV: Mathematics (45 marks)

All questions will be of objective type (multiple choice questions); with choice of four answers in each question. There will be a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer however no marks will be awarded for questions not attempted.

Registration Fee: Registration fee for online payment is Rs 1600 (Rs 1100 for female candidates) and through Demand Draft is Rs 1700 (Rs 1200 for female candidates).

How to Apply: Candidates can register their names online for BITSAT-2012 by applying in the prescribed application form online. Complete the application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com/ and pay the prescribed fees.

Candidates applying offline should send Demand Draft along with application form to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani- 333 031 on or before 5 pm on 30 June 2012.
