CAT 2014: Major changes in Exam Pattern

IIM Indore has declared the pattern and dates for CAT 2014. There are major changes in the exam pattern, timings, test centers etc. Read to find out.

Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) this year, has been announced with dominant changes in the examination pattern. IIM-Indore is going to conduct tests for the second continuous year.

Change in Test pattern: To make CAT 2014 examination more comfortable and simple IM-Indore has increased the examination time from 140 minutes to 170 minutes. It has discontinued purchase of offline vouchers and the number of questions has been increased to 50 in each section - quantitative aptitude & data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning.  Previously there were 30 questions in it.

Application process & test centers: The tutorial preparation time given before the start of the examination has been removed this time, candidates are advised to read tutorial from the website beforehand. The candidate need to make payment online through debit card, credit card or net banking. The candidate can switch to any other section as per their comfort. CAT aspirant will feel more flexible and comfortable  this time and they have their own choice to devote less or more time in respective sections. The Indian Institute of Management-Indore (IIM-I) has cut the examination window for holding the examination. The CAT 2014 will be conducted on two days this year November 16 and November 22 in the forenoon and in the afternoon sesion. The common aptitude test will be conducted in 99 cities with 354 test sites, as compared to previous year`s  45 sites. There is an option to choose three cities in CAT 2014.  According to CAT notification, “During the initial registration, the candidate does not have to rush for blocking sites and cities. The aspirant will offer preference across the four sessions randomly. The candidate will not get a chance to opt for the preferred dates and it will be selected by the CAT center.

Important Dates: The registration for the CAT 2014 will open for 56 days from 6 August and the closing date will be 30 September. Students can download admit card from 6 October till examination date. This time result will be declared in the third week of December 2014.
