CAT 2017: IIM Lucknow to release official notification for MBA Entrance Exam soon

    CAT 2017: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow will soon release the official notification for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017. It is expected that the exam conducting body will make the announcement of important CAT Exam dates on July 30. Last year the official notification was released on 30th July and the registration for the CAT exam commenced on 8th August. The exam was conducted on 4th December.

    CAT 2017 will be conducted by IIM Lucknow. The admission chairperson and strategic management faculty Neeraj Dwivedi has been appointed as the convener for CAT. IIM Lucknow has got the opportunity for conducting the exam after a gap of seven years.

    Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2017

    Here, we will provide you snapshots of the eligibility set by the IIMs to appear for CAT exam.

    1. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Abled (DA) category) awarded by any of the Universities
    2. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.
    3. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
    4. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website.

    Exam Pattern of CAT 2017

    Every year, CAT brings some additional changes in its syllabus to test the aptitude of its aspirants. Here we provide you the expected exam pattern based on the pattern that we have seen the the previous few years. The computer based test is expected to be sub-divided into 3 sections.

    1. The first section is created to test the Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension skills of the aspirants.
    2. The second section pertains to Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and
    3. The third and final section tests the Logical Reasoning skills of the students.

    CAT exam is of 180 minutes and holds 100 questions to test the aptitude of the aspirants.

    Selection Process for admission in IIMs

    It should be noted that once the candidates clear the entrance test, they will be shortlisted for a Personal Interview (PI), Group Discussion (GD) and Written Ability Test (WAT) after which they will be allotted seats (If selected).
