Dec 7, 2015 11:00 IST

Find CBSE Class 12 Physics Practice Paper (Set-VIII). This paper contains important questions from 8th unit (Atoms and Nuclei) of physics. These questions will not only help the students to prepare for exams in a better manner, but will also help them in understanding the depth with which a topic should be studied.

Few sample questions from the Question Paper are given below:

    Q. Draw a schematic arrangement of the Geiger – Marsden experiment. How did the scattering of α – particles by a thin foil of gold provide an important way to determine the upper limit on the size of the nucleus? Explain briefly.

    Q. Raj's mother is diagnosed with cancer. Doctor told him and his mother that she has to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The doctor also mentioned that she may loose her hair as a side effect of the treatment. Raj's mother refuses to take the treatment.

    (a) Name a radioactive isotope used in the treatment of cancer?

    (b) What would you do if you were in Raj's place?

    Q. Using postulates of Bohr’s model of hydrogen atom, obtain an expression for the frequency of radiation emitted when the atom makes a transition from the higher energy state with quantum number ni to the lower energy state with quantum number nf  (nf < ni).

    Q. Show that Bohr’s second postulate “The electron revolves around the nucleus only in certain fixed orbits without radiating energy’ can be explained on the basis of de-Broglie hypothesis of wave nature of electron.
