Chhattisgarh Government Jobs 2024: New Age Limit

Recently (as per PTI), a meeting presided over by Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai approved the proposal for an extension of five years of upper age relaxation in government recruitments for bona fide residents of the state, taking the maximum age to 40, which will also include the vacancies announced under the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission.

As per the reports, this relaxation in age will not be applicable for the fresh recruitments in the police department and the period of one-time relaxation will be effective from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028.

Earlier, the previous state government had increased the maximum age limit for candidates applying for state government jobs from 30 to 35 years, which is now extended to 40 years. The cabinet further decided that the relaxations in the maximum age limit reserved categories would not exceed 45 years, inclusive of all relaxations

The government decided to give male candidates applying for the post of constables a five-year age relaxation, keeping in mind that their recruitment had been pending from previous years, the official said. However, the relaxation would not apply to appointments in the home (police) department.

In 2018, the state police began recruiting for 2,259 vacant constable positions. After around five years, the home department published an announcement seeking candidates for 5,967 vacant constable positions for which the process of filing online applications by candidates was underway.

The officers also said, “The five-year relaxation will apply to male candidates for this police constable recruitment on par with their female counterparts, who have already been given the benefit.”
