    Economy is the most important section of the UPSC IAS Prelims Syllabus as most of the questions are related to the Indian Economy directly or indirectly. The number of questions from the Economy Section varies from 15 to 20 in the Civil Services Prelims Exam.

    Indian Economic Development NCERT book is one of the most important books for the IAS Prelims as well as IAS Main Examination. The Indian Economic Development book focuses on the Macro Economic Development of India since the Independence. The Book also focuses on the Economic Reforms and the development experience since independence and post reforms. It also compares the Indian Economic Development with its neighbours.

    This book is very useful due to its analysis of the past experience of the economic development. It also traces the path of Indian Economy since its Inception and the experiences of the various plans and policies followed in the pre-reforms era.
